Old Louisiana Museum with one of the largest collections of Civil War artifacts in the country
Opened on January 8, 1891, it is the oldest museum in Louisiana. It gathers one of the most important collections of objects related to the Civil War in the country, on the Confederate side. The uniforms, weapons, flags and other exhibits were donated by Louisiana veterans and their families. The cannon displayed outside helped defend the city of Mobile, Alabama during the Civil War (1861-1865).
