This plantation in Victorian style, built in 1796 and expanded in 1850, has remained in the same family since its construction and is still inhabited by the direct descendants of the first owners; this gives him a real charm. Anne Butler, the homemaker, receives B & B in the six cottages around the house. Some have been set up in buildings of 1796, just like the one installed in the old kitchen adjoining the plantation. Others have been the subject of original constructions such as a wooden mill or a small church with stained glass windows. All cottages are tastefully furnished and equipped with Jacuzzi. Notice to Honeymoon travellers… An excellent address for staying in St. Francisville.

The plantation is a beautiful place. The grounds are beautiful, well kept with so many trees and rolling hills. Perfectly quiet. The cabin we stayed in was pretty old. Some people might like that but I guess I'm spoiled, I like to stay in something up to date, more modern. There were nicer cabins of course, but they were already rented. The owner is a wonderfully nice person. If you're looking to get away for a weekend, I highly recommend Butler Greenwood

The cottages are a bit dated. They need some paint and fixing. But we really enjoyed our stay at this peaceful place. We stayed in the pool pavillion, a large cottage. There was a grill so we did some barbaque and sat on the veranda of the pool pavillion. We also made friends with some friendly geese living at the plantation.

We loved our stay at Butler Greenwood. We had the pool pavilion. The kids thoroughly enjoyed having the pool to themselves. Luke the goose was a treat. He was pretty fond of my husband and seemed to enjoy sitting with him at the beautiful pond. The trees are absolutely gorgeous and it was so peaceful & relaxing. Breakfast consisted of oatmeal, croissants, juice & milk. I was hoping for a better breakfast but that's because I was comparing it to others we've experienced. Overall our stay was beautiful and I recommend it.

I recently stayed in the Cook’s Cottage at Butler-Greenwood, and it made what otherwise might have been a stressful visit to Louisiana absolute Heaven.  While traveling to St. Francisville from Baton Rouge just before dark, the alternator in my truck gave out.  Luckily, it did so within reach of a truck stop just south of St. Francisville.  I felt I needed to call the host of my accommodations for the night, Miss Anne Butler at Butler-Greenwood, to let her know what had happened and that I would be late checking in.  Not only did she drive the 10 miles south to Star Hill LA to pick me up and bring me safely to my cottage, but she made it possible for me to remain in my wonderful cottage for an additional two nights while my vehicle was repaired in town!  Now THAT’S what I call a high-quality innkeeper!  Plus, during my extended stay, I got to watch scenes from a movie being filmed inside and on the front lawn at this wonderful old home.  Miss Anne’s cottages (she has 8!) are all like home-away-from-home with a lot of living space and every amenity you could possibly need (big bed, full living room, woodburning fireplace – which I prefer over the big screen TV or WiFi which are also available, full kitchen, hot tub and shower, deck, swing, and the most beautiful grounds to wander and enjoy coffee, peace, and quiet (broken only by the occasional honk of a resident goose near the pond).  Butler-Greenwood is absolutely amazing, and I plan to return again and again (but likely in a new vehicle next time!).

The rooms are a little dated, but so comfortable and easy to locate. The owner was very helpful and knowledgeable about the area
