JEANERETTE MUSEUM
Museum on the cypress industry, used in the construction of steamships and presentation of cypress handicrafts
Housed in a 1902 cypress wood house, it presents life along Bayou Teche through its 200 years of sugar industry. The program includes an exhibit on the cypress industry used in steamboat construction and a display of cypress wood crafts. A Victorian room shows crocheted pieces and French embroidery. The Mardi Gras Room displays a collection of carnival costumes. Finally, the Swamp Room presents the different animal species of the swamps, including the famous rattlesnake.
