FOREST HOUSE

The House of the Forest is the starting point of the discovery trail of the tropical forest. It gives access to an exhibition on the Guadeloupean forest, a discovery trail, a picnic area along the Bras-David River. You will notice that many trees adopt rigid perspectives, as if the spirit of geometry or contortion was fighting or seeking the movements of the sun. The Bras-David River is home to many small crayfish, the famous ouassous, which are of course forbidden to fish in the park. But don't hesitate to swim in it when the weather is good! The site of Bras-David is specially designed by the National Park to discover the Guadeloupean rainforest. It has a picnic area. Leaflets and maps are available at the Maison de la forêt. A downloadable file on the National Park website indicates the different points to observe during the walk. The welcome is provided by park agents. Their advice is to be followed. If the Maison de la Forêt is closed, you can still follow the signs, because the entrance to the loop remains accessible. It takes about 1 hour to walk around the discovery trail around the House, where you will find a picnic area. The restrooms are accessible to people with limited mobility. Please do not leave any objects in the cars in the parking lot at the start of the trail, as this may tempt any ill-intentioned prowlers.
