Museum of Popular Beliefs in Monastier-sur-Gazeille, presenting paintings, photos, sculptures and objects.
It is on the ground floor of a castle built in the 16th century that the Museum of Popular Beliefs is located. Its aim is to make the public aware of the myths, legends of the rural world, the culture and roots of Velay. Patrice Rey has modelled and painted around 200 characters that he exhibits in settings sometimes traditional, sometimes fantastic. There are also paintings, photos, sculptures and antique objects.

The child that you are plunged into the world of fantastic with figures from the country or urban environments original heads and costumes worked to express all the popular beliefs of this Auvergne unusual, mysterious and endearing. The creator of the museum is a real magician of the popular tale. The stories that it tells on its characters are captivating because linked to the local, the legendary beliefs, popular traditions. Visit by small and large and often rediscover because a half-day is not enough for all seized.
excellent museum, very original, for adults as for the little ones! an excellent creation, a very thorough documentation, an artistic style with humour!
