Relais near the cathedral ideal for volunteer hospitaliers

The Relais du Pèlerin de Saint-Jacques in the old town, close to the cathedral, is staffed by volunteer hospitaliers. This is perhaps the first "donativo" you'll come across on your pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela, and one of the last, as these traditional places where pilgrims can be accommodated on a "free contribution" basis are becoming increasingly rare. 27 beds in 2 dormitories, often overcrowded during the departure season.

C'est grâce à des associations de jacquais que je peux faire le chemin. Je leur dois le rêve du chemin. Merci de leur faire un immense accueil pour leur présence. Merci pour eux, ils sont un avant goût du chemin.

1000 mercis à Geneviève qui m'a accueillie avec une très grande gentillesse et bienveillance alors que mon arrivée a été tardive, contre mon gré. Le gîte dispose de tout le confort nécessaire, le petit déjeuner complet et à deux pas de la cathédrale. Merci encore ????
