LA BARAKA
Pushing open the doors of La Baraka, the smell of leather greets regular customers and the curious alike. Once inside, it's hard to stop your gaze: leather bags of all shapes and sizes, displays of colorful babouches, loose-fitting garments and saris, jewelry, mirrors and wrought-iron lamps. In this warm, shimmering setting, Virginie, who has been here since 2001, shares her passion for North Africa. It's impossible to leave her store without taking the time to chat with her. Her habitual good humor and big smile turn every visit into an invitation to travel. The bags and shoes are original designs. Clothes are by turns traditional or eccentric, dressy or casual (some are her own creations). The fitting room is like a caravan in the desert. The backroom becomes an Ali Baba's cave, with floor-to-ceiling lamps and mirrors.
