A chapel located in Puy-en-Velay, dating from the century, built on a volcanic peak at 82 meters high.

It dominates the Puy-en-Velay, an architectural feat occupying the narrow summit of a spectacular volcanic peak rising to 82 m high. In fact, it is an ancient volcanic chimney. This chapel, accessible by a staircase of 268 steps, dedicated to the archangel Michael, was consecrated in 961 by Bishop Godesclac, the first pilgrim to Santiago de Compostela. Temporary exhibitions at the entrance to the site, newly planted, and a virtual tour area.

Une montée des marches qui en vaut la peine
Après avoir gravi les marches qui mènent à la chapelle St-Michel d'Aiguilhe située au sommet d'un Rocher haut de 82 mètres, vous serez récompensés par la magnifique façade illustrée par un jeu de polychromie. A l'intérieur, de très beaux décors peints ont été révélés lors de la dernière restauration, admirables!

Accrochée en haut d’un pic rocheux haut de 82 mètres, vestige d’une ancienne cheminée volcanique en forme d’aiguille dominant au nord la ville du Puy-en-Velay en Haute-Loire, le rocher d'Aiguilhe est considéré comme une montjoie naturelle (pyramide de pierre élevé par les pèlerins).
