THE CHAPEL OF PENITENTS
Museum containing remarkable paintings and sculptures, including many paintings by local artists.
This former private mansion was given by Jacqueline d'Aumont to the brotherhood of the Pénitents blancs du Puy in 1584. It was fitted out and inaugurated on Holy Thursday in 1856. The chapel opens its doors every Holy Thursday during the procession of the order. The small museum contains remarkable paintings and sculptures, including many by local artists. The richly decorated Renaissance coffered ceiling has been restored several times.
