THE COLLEGE CHURCH
The former chapel of the Jesuit College, a parish church where the shrine of the evangelist is located
It is the former chapel of the Jesuit College built in 1605. This parish church is the first known example in France of the Jesuit style. The shrine of the evangelist Saint Jean-François Régis is located here. The latter travelled through the Velay and Vivarais regions, shaken by the wars of religion, to evangelise them. In the chapel, you can see the altarpiece in the choir as well as some remarkable paintings. The panels of the pulpit were sculpted by Pierre Vanneau and the altar by the sculptor Philippe Kaeppelin in 1984.
