METROPOLE HOTEL * * * *
Hotel opened in 1871, a 6-minute walk from the station, offering a retro atmosphere with cast-iron heaters in the rooms.
As you cross the threshold of the Metropole, you enter Riga's oldest hotel still in operation. Opened in 1871, it's seen a lot of people come and go, and although it's been given a complete makeover, it still retains some reminders of its bygone days, such as the cast-iron heaters in the rooms, which give them a certain bourgeois charm (the beds are a nice size too). As for the palette, the decor plays on amber-orange tones, contrasting elegantly with gray and anthracite. What's more, the Metropole is ideally located, just a 6-minute walk from the train station.
