Originally built of wood in 1760, the present Grebenchikova Orthodox Church dates from 1814 and is recognizable by its golden dome. It is now home to a large congregation of Old Believers and many icons that they took with them when they fled from Russia in the 18th century. The Old Believers are members of a separatist group in the Russian Orthodox Church who refused reforms introduced from 1666 onwards.
