THE GREAT AMBER - LIELAIS DZINTARS

Liepāja is known as the city of music. It's no surprise, then, that its concert hall is THE city's showpiece of contemporary architecture: La Grande Ambre(Lielais Dzintars), the work of Austrian architect Volker Giencke. You can't miss it: it looks like a giant stone, orange on the inside, orange on the outside: you feel like an inclusion in its amber. With its three halls, including the 1,000-seat Great Hall, its programming ranges from grand opera to experimental pieces. Don't be afraid to push open the door!
