Daugavpils hill is home to four churches of four different denominations.
For the record, the Martin Lutheran church dates back to 1892-1893. In 1941, its spire burned down during the war, before being rebuilt shortly afterwards. But with the German-Baltic population - who used to visit here - gone, the church was transformed in the 1950s, with a warehouse downstairs and a boxing club upstairs. In 1991, the church once again became a Lutheran place of worship.
