First mentioned in 1524, it is one of the symbols of Vilnius. In the 17th century, a wooden chapel was built to house an image of the Virgin Mary, who, according to custom, was supposed to protect the city. After a fire, a stone chapel was built in its place. The miraculous icon of the Virgin Mary is one of the finest examples of Renaissance painting in Lithuania. It is venerated by Catholics, Orthodox and Uniates alike, with numerous ex-votos.

Après être passé sous la porte de l'aurore, sur la droite, par un petit escalier vous pourrez atteindre le dessus du passage.
Ce dernier comporte une grande icone. Les photos sont interdites à l'étage mais l'icone est parfaitement visible en contre bas depuis la rue.

Porte chapelle
La porte de l'aurore permet d'accéder à la ville lorsqu'on arrive côté gare routière ou de train. Elle fait pénétrer dans la ville en descendant l'artère principale qui traverse la ville.

Situe en leger hauteur , vous pourrez voir cette porte en sortant du centre ville et en allant vert la gare. Cela vous permettera de voir egalement une chapelle situe au dessus de la porte.

Excellent moyen de commencer la visite de la ville (ou de la terminer) ! Cette porte est tout simplement magnifique ! Il est possible de monter voir l’idole en passant par une porte à gauche dans la rue.
