From 1910 to 1932, the romantic poet Jonas Mačiulis (1862-1932), better known by his pseudonym Father Maironis, lived in this house, and this museum (Maironio lietuvių literatūros muziejus) is dedicated to him. He was not only one of the leading exponents of Lithuanian national literature. He was also a theologian, priest, historian and teacher. His most famous collection was Pavasario Balsai. Born in a small Lithuanian village, he died and was buried in Kaunas.
