This museum is partly dedicated to the painter and composer M.K. Čiurlionis (1875-1911), considered Lithuania's greatest painter. His dreamlike works, steeped in cosmogony and references to ancient pagan culture, heralded abstraction. He was also a composer, and some of his works can be heard in the music room. The rest of the museum is devoted to Lithuanian art from the 14th to the 19th centuries, folk art from the 19th to the 20th centuries and temporary exhibitions.
