A visit a little out of the way from downtown Kaunas. From this hill, Napoleon and his troops watched for the enemy's advance across the river Niemen, as they prepared their attack on the Imperial Russian Army. Every June, Kaunas commemorates the arrival of Napoleon the Liberator in memory of that famous June 1812. The site is free and open all year round. To get there by public transport, take bus no. 22 or 47 near Kaunas Castle and get off at the Gelešinkelio Pervaša stop.
