KIDDUS RAGUEL CHURCH
This unusual octagonal church built by Hajji Khawasdes features a dome and a balcony.
A little higher up than the Entoto Maryam church, the Raguel church was built by Hajji Khawasdes, one of the ruler's favorite Indian craftsmen, giving it its distinctive octagonal, two-storey architecture, topped by a dome and surrounded by a balcony. A little further on, you can visit the former palace and its outbuildings, a simple, traditional two-storey house. The Ethiopian Space Science Society set up an astronomical observatory here in 2013, at an altitude of 3,200 m, equipped with two telescopes.
