MASQAL SQUARE
Go there and contact
A former place of the Revolution under the Marxist regime, where the court martial was held, Masqal Square can be regarded as the city's physical centre. It is now known as the «real cross», and it is of course that it hosts the great religious festivals of Masqal and other events. The buildings on the border are without a stamp, and the place is mainly the obligatory crossing point to all parts of the capital. At its north-west angle is the old stadium of the city, built in 1968 but still vibrates on days of sports encounters. This is where Ethiopia won its only continental title in football under Emperor Haile Selassie.
