SHEIKH ABADIR'S TOMB
This tomb of the town's patron saint, Sheikh Abadir, is an important place of pilgrimage for Ethiopian Muslims.
In the lower part of Harar, near the fortified city wall and close to the Sanga gate, is the shrine dedicated to Sheikh Abadir, considered the patron saint of the city. This historic figure was one of the first preachers of Islam, in a city considered to be the holiest place of Islam in Ethiopia. Even today, his tomb is an important place of pilgrimage for Ethiopian Muslims from all over the country. The entrance to the tomb is forbidden to non-Muslims, but the house that houses it is very beautiful.
