Central square housing the Medhane Alem church, the Harar hotel and the tomb of Emir Nur, who built the ramparts.
Once inside the fortified walls, all the main arteries lead to the central square, Feres Megala (horse market), dominated by the Medhane Alem church, erected on the site of the Great Mosque destroyed when Menelik conquered the city. At the corner of the square, the Hotel Harar could have been the residence of Arthur Rimbaud or of the Bardey commercial agency for which he worked... but nothing is certain. The street to the left of the church leads to the tomb of Emir Nur, builder of the ramparts, whose white dome can be seen.
