A 6,900 protected area located in Babillé, home to kudu, lion and leopard bushbucks.
To the south of the city, a 6,900 km2 protected area, also home to kudu, lion and leopard bushbucks, was originally created to preserve the Loxodonta africana orleansi, an endemic species of elephant. Unfortunately subject to poaching and the encroachment of cattle on their territory, these elephants live here in small but steadily increasing numbers (around 400 today) and are difficult to spot. Camping possible, but no infrastructure.
