The "Coast to Coast" walking trail is a scenic 16-kilometer hike, linking Auckland's east and west coasts via major scenic sites. The country's largest city stretches along the Auckland Isthmus. This city walk runs from Waitemata in the north to Manukau in the south. This "gateway" crosses more than half a millennium of Maori occupation, as well as volcanic landscapes. Excluding stops, it takes a total of four hours to complete, so it's advisable to take the whole day off.
