At the foot of Mount Eden, the Eden Garden can be an extended walk with its beautiful flowers, waterfalls, rocks and endemic birds. The camellias and rhododendrons are particularly beautiful and there is also a café on site. Known as the "Jewel of Auckland", the magnificent garden of more than two hectares has been in existence since July 1964 thanks to Jack Clark and Sir Frank Mappin who helped to re-vegetate the former quarry of Mount Eden. From quarry to national showcase, Eden Park is full of history.
