THE EIFFEL BRIDGE

The Eiffel Bridge was built after the railway viaduct of Gabarit in 1884 and the framework of the Statue of Liberty in New York.
In 1887, the Eiffel company was awarded the contract to build the bridge over the Allier. Hundreds of workers came to Monistrol-d'Allier for this construction, which required real technical prowess in this hostile mountainous region. After the Garabit railway viaduct in 1884-1885 and the framework of the Statue of Liberty in New York, Gustave Eiffel built the Monistrol-d'Allier bridge in the year preceding the construction of the Parisian tower that bears his name.
