Opened on August1, 1992, the Whangarei Native Bird Recovery Centre is a sanctuary for injured birds where as many as 1,200 animals are cared for each year before being released into their natural habitat. A visit allows you to meet them and learn more about the national wildlife. Donations are appreciated to keep the center afloat. If you come across injured birds along the way, you can drop them off here.
