Russell's small museum is quick to visit, but remains interesting for its exhibits on early relations between Maoris and Europeans. Topics include the arrival of settlers in New Zealand, whaling and the author Zane Grey. Among the exhibits is a 1/5 replica of James Cook'sEndeavour, as well as Polynesian artifacts. The museum celebrates the relationship between māori and pākehā (European) culture.
