It is the oldest New Zealand stone building dating back to 1836 by John Hobbs. The house was intended to conserve the wheat reserves from Te Waimate. Later, it will be used to shelter kauri wood. It now includes a small museum on the floor and a boutique of objects inspired from colonial times on the ground floor.
