Located in a marsh in the Kaikino Valley, the 26-hectare Gum Diggers Park offers an ecological trail presenting the kauri resin mining industry that developed shortly after colonization in the 19th century. A collection of objects carved from this sacred wood, the oldest piece of wood in the world, a reconstructed village... Everything is there to make the visit instructive. You will learn more about the endemic species (fauna) and species (flora) of the country.
