The Waikato Regional Museum (Te Whare Taonga o Waikato) is a valuable educational and cultural attraction. Established in 1987, a visit here sheds light on New Zealand's heritage, especially Maori. There are many collections to discover, including an art gallery and a section on the history of the city. There is, among others, a canoe(waka in Maori), many weavings, clothes, as well as more contemporary sculptures. A temporary program also allows for events to be held (sometimes for a fee).
