The National Museum of the Royal New Zealand Navy opened in its current form in 2010 in Torpedo Bay. Housed in historic military buildings, its exhibits trace the country's naval history from the Flagstaff War of 1845. The World Wars, Vietnam, Korea, the Gulf War and the Afghan War are covered, as well as other opexes such as peacekeeping in Yugoslavia. Galleries, photographs, equipment and objects of the period are there to testify and guided tours are organized.
