The Te Awamutu Museum houses a fine collection of Maori artifacts, including the famous Uenuku sculpture. This effigy of a Polynesian deity is said to have been brought back from the Pacific Islands during the Great Migration, aboard the canoe Tainui. The rest of the museum focuses on the history, heritage and culture of the Waipa District region. There are also temporary exhibitions, notably on local artists. Children's club on site: Tui & Tama Club.
