Rafting New-Zealand was bought out in 2021 by the Lake Rotoaira Forest Trust, a Māori organization aiming to protect Māori lands, both legally and environmentally. For the time being, they share premises and staff with Tongariro River Rafting. Using a Māori company for this type of activity can be very interesting, given their special relationship with their environment. You'll learn more about the legends, myths and history of the rivers you'll be navigating.
