BRIDGE TO NOWHERE
It is above the Wanganui River that the Bridge to Nil was built: a very large bridge, with a start and an end, but which leads nowhere! This «bridge for nowhere» was built in 1936 thanks to the most modern techniques combining iron and concrete. It was originally supposed to allow farmers to operate in the valley and would have been their sole link between this and the rest of the region. This was obviously not the case. The government never ends the promised route and the bridge remained as it was. It is only available in jet boat leaving from Pipiriki.
