THE WOOL SHED
It's impossible to think of New Zealand without thinking of sheep. In the heyday of sheep farming, the country had over 70 million sheep, or 22 per capita. Today, the ratio is only 2.5, but the wool industry remains central to the country's economy. The museum presents the history of the industry, as well as the evolution of shearing techniques and equipment. Part of the building is an old shearing farm, which has been relocated and reconstructed on site. It's probably one of the last of its kind in the country.
