Along the Haurangi Forest Park, you arrive in the Cape Palliser (road road and in very bad condition after heavy rains). To go to the lighthouse, you must swallow the 250 steps. Just a little further is a colony of fur lions, the largest of the North Island. They are present all year round.

A sacred detour (as a " one way") but is worth it! Seals on the roadside and magnificent view from the top of the 250 steps of the lighthouse.
