THE MUSSEL INN

Located between Takaka and Collingwood, the Mussel Inn has been an institution since 1992. It is at the same time a brewery, a concert hall and a restaurant. Locals and backpackers alike gather there to eat a mussel chowder and drink one of the 12 beers brewed on site with their own hops called Onekaka. Fresh mussels are steamed as available. Jane and Andrew have given the place a casual, family atmosphere with the furniture, solid wood deck and fireplace. 2-3 times a week, live bands play.
