This historic house is all that remains of a whaling station established in 1842: Robert Fyfe's Whaling Station. The building rests on piles made from the vertebrae of the Tohora whale (also known as the southern right whale or right whale). The visit plunges us into the past since the arrival of tangata whenua ("the people of the earth"), and thus in the footsteps of the Maoris and the settlers. Their daily life and their organization are still alive through audio, photographs and objects of the time.

L'histoire de Kaikoura
Tout commence ici, la première construction à Kaikoura. C'est donc intéressant de connaitre l'histoire de la ville.
