This interactive museum tells the story of the Maori rock paintings found in the Timaru area. With tours lasting from one to three hours, you can learn about the legends and scientific records surrounding these witnesses to the past. The museum is run by the Ngāi Tahu whose whakapapa (genealogy) links them to Te Waipounamu (the South Island). Its members see themselves as custodians of the Maori rock art of the South Island. A precious tribal heritage for future generations.
