Tekapo is ideal for stargazing in this part of the world, away from the light pollution of cities that often disrupts sky-watching. The Mackenzie region is known for the purity of its nights and the great visibility possible of the Milky Way. Tours of 1h15 to 2h are possible once the sun is down and of half an hour during the day. Several experiences are offered here. The Dark Sky Experience is the least expensive and allows you to learn more about the science of stargazing and tatai aroraki (Maori astronomy).
