Marufuku is a popular ramen restaurant in Japantown, with a very chic, designer Japanese setting, which has even opened other outlets in North Cal (in Oakland and Cupertino in particular). Two star ramen on the menu: the authentic Tonkotsu Hakata ramen, featuring a milky, umami-rich pork broth simmered for hours, with fine artisanal noodles. And Paitan ramen with white chicken chashu, seasoned boiled egg, green onions, kikurage mushrooms and bean sprouts. Excellent izakaya appetizers and quality sake. Delicious and affordable.

The best ramen we have ever had ever! I always get the pork ramen with extra pork, and my girlfriend always gets the pork ramen with an extra egg. Everything about the ramen is absolutely perfect!

Some of the best tonkatsu ramen I've ever had. Perfectly creamy broth, not too salty, a whole deliciously marinated egg, and they added a thick slice of pork belly. Great service. Definitely will go here again when in SF.

Long lines but worth the wait. Tonkatsu ramen is amazing. Probably the best vegetarian ramen broth in the city. Toppings are generous and tasty. Cheerful vibe and located right in Japan town.

I came on Friday at 12:30 pm as just 1 person. Ordered a Hakata Tonkotsu deluxe ramen $20.50, small draft Sapporo $7.00, and kae-dama $1.75. Everything came out so fast within a few minutes.

The ramen came with chashu, a soft-boiled egg, green onions, kikurage mushrooms, bean sprouts, and pickled ginger. Since I got the deluxe, they added corn, a thick slab of pork belly, and nori (seaweed). The tonkotsu broth was very creamy but not too sweet or salty. The chashu was delicious, and so was the egg. The thick pork belly was good, too, but I liked the thin chashu better. It's probably better to get the normal tonkatsu ramen unless you love corn.
The Sapporo was delicious.
The kae-dama noodles were hot and fresh. I recommend asking for kae-dama after you finish your original noodles, whereas my kae-dama was cold and stuck together by the time I put them into the broth.

As I ate, 4 people came by within 10 min, asking how everything was, grabbing empty dishes and trash.
Total price with mandate, tax, and 20% tip came out to $39.05.

Good food, great service, love the atmosphere.

Having eaten ramen all along the east and west coast, I can comfortably say that this is top 5 in my books. The service and food is amazing. The noodles are thinner than what I am accustomed to but still perfect with the refined broth. I did wish the chasudon had some light soy sauce added to help assist mixing the bowl together.
