Lovely place and I will stay another week. But the rooms are heated all day while there is moderate temperature outside making the room unbearable. Opened the window but there is a generator or other massive noise machine outside the window in this side making an open window impossible. It’s loud with the window closed. Love it but prolly nothing to do about the noise - a surprise the city allows that next lodging space - so please shut off the heat. Save you money!

I stayed here years ago BEFORE the pandemic when I brought my daughter to college in SF. Then it was lovely with an amazing breakfast and tea time. All items were working and it was cozy. This trip was the complete opposite of that experience. They no longer have a breakfast or tea time. The community kitchen had no working coffee pot or hot water maker for tea. The dish washer was broken and the fridge was absolutely filthy and filled with the housekeeping staffs food and condiments. The first room I was assigned had a bed that was as hard as a rock. I was there for 5 days and absolutely could not sleep on it. I called and requested a room change and the next room had a bed that was better. The rest of the trip went well until upon packing for my return home I realized that my iPad was missing. I had not used it since the night I arrived and had placed in in my travel bag that I didn’t need to go into until I was ready to depart.
As soon as I realized it was missing I called to report it.. this was September 24th. I have tried following up several times to never receive a call back from Linda the general manager. I was told by the agent who took my report there would be an investigation and a claim filed with their insurance for my stolen property and I have not heard a word from anyone. Even when I had to make a 3rd follow up call I was rudely questioned as to why I took so long to call back! Like it is my job to track down somone to to help me when I have been wronged. Absolutely unacceptable and unprofessional. No one gave a damn that my personal belongings were searched and my property stolen. It’s now October 10th and I have yet to hear back,
This place is horrible as a business and not safe for your personal property. There are no safes in the room so nothing is safe to be left there!!!! I will be leaving reviews one every platform there is to warn others to not stay here because LINDA AND HAYES VALLEY INN DOESN’T CARE ABOUT YOU JUST YOUR MONEY AND WHAT THEIR STAFF CAN FREELY STEAL!!!!

Very nice stay in the heart of Hayes Valley! Loved the location, walkable with plenty of transport & dining options. We stayed in annex building hence the room was quiet but did not have a sink, neither was as spacious as advertised online. Shared kitchen was equipped but a few extra items like clean sponge, dishwashing liquid and a dish cloth would make the stay even more comfortable and homey. 5* for cleanliness & a pleasant stay overall.

Never seen a place so dirty. Inexistent service and they are rude by email. In the end I decided not to stay there even though I had a room booked.

If you're willing to forgo a private bathroom and large living space, this hotel is in the center of downtown SF... and it's a great price! This antique hotel invokes the feeling of large city living with old Town vibes

Ok so room was clean, I just don’t believe it was wise to get the hotel booked because parking sucked, I paid for a nice priced hotel, and than I had to pay for stupid parking in a garage. Hotel is loud outside during day and up until midnight…BUT it’s fair to deal with. I did not like the ceiling fan because it does get hot in the room and they didn’t have fans nor a air conditioner. Their was on a couple of occasions that asked for something and they said they would be an assistants and they lagged it. So with that said I give this hotel a 3 star rating. Definitely won’t come back.

This place deserves a good rating. We stayed two separate times. The location is great, Queen beds are comfy and the hotel has a homely feeling. The community room was one of the best things with a nice view on the street. If we’re in SF we’ll come back again!

We were very impressed with the quality of Hayes Valley Inn considering the price. The room was very clean and spacious, and had nice big windows facing the street. The checkin and out procedure was very easy, although it’s a bit weird there were no hotel staff on the premises that we noticed. The common kitchen and dining room was lovely!!! Good location too. Honestly just great value for your money and would definitely stay here again.

My cousin from back East stayed here on the recommendation of her SF business friends. The place was quiet, tastefully decorated, and immaculate for being a survivor of an old SF Victorian neighborhood. To prove its age, each floor has a shared bathroom and toilet. On the 2nd floor was a kitchen and dining table stocked with dishware, etc. was welcoming. The hotel is
located in a gentrified neighborhood, so lots was happening, but many ethnic and affordable restaurants were nearby if you research online. Best of all, the hotel is 10 min walk to bus/BART transportation, the beautiful SF City Hall area, Asian Art Museum, and the SF Main Library.

We have loved this hotel for many years! However, on 03/30/23 the absentee owners/managers did NOT inform guests of a scheduled electrical outage on that night that prevented several registered guests from re-entering the hotel at 9:30pm, waiting outside for 45 minutes after phoning for help, only to finally find an uninhabitable totally dark room. The locking device on the hotel entry door is tied to electric service, not battery-operated like the room doors. PG&E had informed them of this planned outage! We felt unsafe staying the night, but had to argue with the person answering the phone the next morning to get a refund. We expected more understanding/compensation for leaving guests isolated, vulnerable, uninformed, and terribly inconvenienced.

Beware: this is a hostel, not a hotel. There’s no elevator, and we were on the 4th floor. It’s very loud at night due to nightlife and stays pretty hot as well.

Quise cancelar mi reserva porque leí que la zona era insegura y no fueron felixibles en devolverme mi dinero o cuando menos una parcialidad :/

Things I didn't like from most bothersome to least:
1. No A/C.
2. Bed was harder than any I've slept on in memory.
3. Bed was very squeaky and would wake up my partner every time I got up.
3. No spare towels and no known way to get new ones (we stayed two nights and none were replaced or anything).
4. Shared bathroom.
5. Near the road so sounds, but we brought a white noise machine so this was fine except the couple times people honked.
Very well located and very charming!
During our stay there were ten French about in this b& B therefore an atmosphere of traveller good child. Good breakfast and a warm welcome.
Super value for San Francisco. Simple and charming little rooms. Very European in the soul but vibe Frisco. Breakfast. Shared bathroom. Close to transport. Nice district, shops, small galleries cafes, bars, etc.
