Small hotel well located, with rooms named after a famous movie shot in the city

It's aptly named: this hotel is an adorable, affordable little gem in Union Square. Cinephile? You won't be able to resist its charm, as it's inspired by San Francisco's cinematic history. Each of the 65 delightful cocoon rooms decorated with vintage Art Deco furniture is named after a film shot in the city. In the evening, antique purple velvet movie chairs invite you to attend a screening in the Petit Théâtre. Don't forget to pick up a packet of popcorn in the lobby, decorated with photographs by Gideon Boaz.

I wouldn't even get out of my car. The area was SO BAD. Garbage all over the street. Five cop cars across the street. I would have had to park two blocks away and would not have felt safe walking there. The kicker is...... even though the front desk acknowledged how bad the area is on the phone, they wouldn't refund my room.

I will say the staff was friendly and accommodating. However, outside of that I would stay clear. Where to begin…. First, It is in an absolutely horrific part of town. I mean awful. Second, we had to switch rooms four times in the span of 20 minutes until we were able to find a room that we could sleep in due to the noise from people out in the streets below. Barely got any sleep as the noise in our 4th room was nearly unbearable. They have ear plugs in each room for guests to sleep with I guess? Also, our sink didn’t drain water so it nearly over filled several times. We had to use cups to pour the water out in between toothbrush washes…. The Staff was the only bright spot of this place but if you are planning on staying in San Fran and want a good night sleep in a good part of town - look elsewhere.

Do yourself a favor and go to a neighboring hotel. The hallways are rediculously small, rooms/bathrooms are tiny, our room hadnp windows, there is was no wine as advertised at arrival, and to top it off our room smelled of urine. The only plus was that the two hotel staff were nice.

No working lift. We were due to stay at this hotel in august but on arrival was told that the lift was working and they wanted to place us on the third floor , we told them this was no good as my husband was registered disabled, they said we could have a full refund but it would have to be given to the travel agent that we booked with , as yet the hotel has not replied to the travel agent and we have not received a refund , this is appalling

Really bad wifi and no gym. The breakfast is 13.30 per person, which is a little steep.
