Pictures out our room window. Weather was a bit cloudy rainy, but still got to see a lot. A sunny day be better.
I didn't want scramble eggs, so I asked boiled, and they wanted me to charge 9 USD extra. That was terrible!
Our stay included a $25 daily food and beverage credit; bike rentals; 2 cable car tickets; and free bottled water or free refillable stainless steel water bottles.
The staff is gracious and very helpful - from check in to check out!
Highly recommended!
2. To make matters worse, even the wifi is not free.
3. At arrival, during check in the receptionist tried really hard to upsell me on a bigger room and tried to scare me for the chosen room that it would be too small (which I found to be totally wrong after checking in)
4. Shower is super old and a nightmare to operate
Better to avoid staying in this one.
My recent experience at The Westin on Union Square was far below expectations due to a series of significant service and operational failures. Firstly, the hotel was overbooked, forcing my colleague to relocate to another hotel. Check-in was a 30-minute ordeal due to their system repeatedly declining my card, only to later discover the fault was on their end.
Additionally, the elevator malfunctioned multiple times on my way to the room, which was a further inconvenience. Upon entering my room, I found old food leftovers in the refrigerator, indicating a serious lapse in cleanliness standards.
These issues collectively reflect poorly on The Westin's management and customer service. I hope this feedback prompts necessary improvements to avoid such experiences for future guests.
My only regret is that my schedule was so busy I did not get to spend enough time here.
The St Francis Hotel at Union Square! Beautiful!
The bigger problem was that the hotel is under re-construction, something that wasn't mentioned when I made the reservations, or mentioned on line. That meant that the traditional front entrance was completely sealed off, the restaurant was closed and no lunch or dinner meals could be had on the premises, the hotel bar was relocated to a cozy little speakeasy that you had to leave the hotel and walk to, and there was almost no common area to settle in in any part of the hotel. With all those amenities gone, the effect was similar to staying in an extremely expensive Holiday Inn. Except, at Holiday Inn you can make your own waffles for breakfast.
I will not return here in the future. There are plenty of other quality hotels in the Union Square area to choose from.
