My recent stay at The Palace Hotel was nothing short of extraordinary, reminding me of the true meaning of relaxation and indulgence. It's experiences like these that reaffirm my passion for seeking out luxury properties, where the customer truly reigns supreme. Treat yourself to a journey through time, where every moment is a celebration of the art of hospitality.
The hotel itself is beautiful and incredibly well maintained. The entire team is well trained, friendly, and dedicated to luxury service. From the time you arrive and are greeted by the door person who warmly welcomes you and ushers you to reception. The front desk team who quickly identifies if you are returning guest or first time guest and proudly announce changes to benefit guest or introduces you to the hotel. If you haven’t already made a reservation for breakfast at the Garden Court stop by the concierge and make one first thing! The concierge has always been helpful but learn from me and make a reservation as soon as you book your room. It is a very popular spot for guests and locals.
In addition to the Garden Court, I always stop by the Pied Piper for a little bit and cocktail. The food there is delicious and service is always wonderful. The setting of the Pied Piper is that of classic cocktail lounge set under that amazing painting.
The rooms are well appointed and the housekeeping staff is incredible. Rooms vary and I have stayed in a standard and deluxe room which are both wonderful. I do love when I’m upgraded to a deluxe room for turn down service with Ghirardelli chocolates and the Toto equipped toilets.
Spoil yourself and book a room here!
HOWEVER.. Food quality was hm.... it was not the quality that I thought from building interior. even Dinner was just okay level. and They MUST do something with Coffee. taste like just burned too much. old beans..maybe? there is way better restaurant around the building. I recommend you must go there next streets.(just a block away)
and Room size was too small. and bathroom was small. I understand this was historic building. it is hard to make bigger space.
Service was perfect. everyone was very friendly. I visited there when was my birthday. they brought a little cake for birthday. I was biz trip that time. it was great little treat from their service.
I went to the atrium to ask if continental breakfast was complimentary. The hostesses checked my room, did not say if it was complimentary or not, but led me to a seat. This made me believe it was included in my room fare. It was not. I recieved a bill of shocking 50 USD at the end (only shocking because I wasn't expecting it). I tipped 20% because coffee service was good, but you can definitely get much better meals for that price in San Francisco. The food fare was extremely standard (not even freshly squeezed orange juice or eggs benedict). I politely inquired with the hostesses about the confusion, but they insisted I had never asked them if it was complimentary, and said 'we were both here so YOU must be wrong'. They gave me dirty looks and was overall unpleasant and unhelpful. I really don't care to have a breakfast bill reversed, but a little grace from the hostesses would have been lovely for a hotel that is supposed to feel luxurious. I have been and will continue to be extra kind to the workers here as I know they are unionizing. Being treated so rudely left me feeling absolutely awful, for which I want to give 0 stars.
The are definitely better was to spend 50 dollars, such as a locally owned cafe or tips to hotel staff that actually cares for customer experience. I recommend the nearby The Grove for breakfast.
Update*
I went to the Pied Piper for dinner and it was absolutely delicious and service there was just excellent. So it has redeemed my visit somewhat.
This beautiful hotel in a great location would be an easy 5 stars if I did not meet any rude hotel staff!
