CITY LIGHTS BOOKSTORE
It is the emblematic bookshop of the Beat Generation. Founded by L. Ferlinghetti, it supported writers like Ginsberg and Kerouac.
This independent bookstore was co-founded in 1953 by Lawrence Ferlinghetti, poet and publisher of Beat Generation intellectuals Jason Murphy, Jack Kerouac and Allen Ginsberg. Get lost in the maze of political, spiritual, artistic and other departments. And most importantly, sit down with a book for a moment as several signs invite you to do so. This establishment is an institution where you must spend time to soak up the atmosphere. A must for literature lovers.
