The website Pictures are deceiving and the staff could at least crack a smile.
Expected better for the price and agree with other reviews that this is in no way a 3 star hotel.
This is the third time I've updated this review as this room is the gift that keeps giving. The BO smell is becoming unbearable.
Can't make coffee in the cheesy Keurig and watch TV at the same time. Lol. Come on you can't spring for a power strip?
The coffee cups are so small that they overflow at the smallest cup setting on the Keurig. I guess it's a good thing I had to move the Keurig to the bathroom where there is an outlet.
And don't be fooled by old reviews, there is no wine or cheese, nor breakfast to be had here.
If you plan a trip to San Francisco, do so before the last ferry back! We wanted to get an Uber and no cab drivers wanted to take us back to Sausalito. Made for a very stressful evening. But easily rectified with good planning so felt this was a good hint. Sausalito is beautiful in the evening anyway ????
Staff is...odd. Not warm, friendly or inviting. The check-in process was goofy. The person who checked us in insisted on taking us up to our room, but she got a weird phone call about someone wanting her private info. Clearly sounded like a spam call or solicitor; not sure why she didn't just hang up or, at the very least, toss us the keycard so we could get settled. We had to wait at the top of the stairs for a bit before she came up let us in.
Upon entering our room, we encountered a horribly stained carpet. Blech. I can't understand why they won't deep clean or replace it; it's a small space and wouldn't cost much. The rest of the room had laminate flooring that seemed clean, but the dirty, stained carpet in the entry is the first thing you see when you walk into the room. It makes a bad impression that sticks with you.
The rest of the room smelled and looked clean, but it could use some updates—especially the bathroom. And the Keurig machine makes sad coffee. Spring for a Nespresso or maybe offer good drip coffee in the lobby, as most inns or hotels do.
Our room had a balcony with a great view of San Francisco and the Oakland Bay Bridge. This was the highlight of our stay at Gables Inn. The inn's location is great—within walking distance of the water and many shops, restaurants and cafes.
If the owners would invest in some updates and train their hospitality staff re: what it means to be hospitable, this place could really shine.
Stayed in the Sycamore room for one night earlier this week. We ran into a couple problems as soon as we got there. The concierge Dimitri was really curt with us and didn’t seem interested in answering our questions when we checked in. We then went to dinner which was wonderful and came back to our room to find several spiders and a fireplace that didn’t work. I called the manager and all he could say was that the fireplace “worked yesterday” (so obviously I must be doing something wrong?). Well he then sent Dimitri in to look at it, and he made minimal effort to determine the problem and stated he couldn’t fix it until the next day. We just decided to call it a night after that but certainly lost a good hour of time focusing on it.
At checkout, there was no concierge present and none of our problems with our stay were acknowledged over the phone (we had to call to figure out how to check out).
Also, the info booklets need to be updated, as they note a continental breakfast from 8-10 every morning which is no longer the case.
