At the foot of Pigeon Point lighthouse, the wooden cabins have been arranged in the hostel. The rooms are lovely and overlook the ocean in an idyllic setting. For a quiet retreat.

The service was on point, very friendly staff and overall it was a great place to stay during a little storm. Would recommend to travelers trying to save a couple bucks.

This was my first time staying at a hostel
and I only realized it was even there because the lighthouse guided me off the highway as the sun went down…
Kelsey at the front desk was super helpful about answering my questions and orienting me to the grounds. There is a great covered bike rack in a secure garage for any cyclists who might happen to be making the tour from San Francisco to L.A. (and beyond).
I stayed in the “dolphin” house and it had comfortable dorm style bunk rooms, a bathroom, a shower room, and a shared kitchen/ living room (with a piano!). I am used to traveling and staying alone, but the space let you be private when feeling private, and communal when feeling like learning about your fellow travelers.

This isn’t just a hostel, this is a destination. Only stayed for a night but the scenery is amazing, hot tub is really cool, and the staff were wonderful and kind. People of all ages were staying here and I’d recommend it for any older folks (or anyone) that are unsure about staying at a hostel. Cool piece of history and very unique experience. Also the gift shop in the lighthouse is great.

It was always a very affordable little retreat just a short drive away.
The rooms and service were perfectly wonderful for a youth hostel, but do not expect hotel. The shared kitchen can help keep costs down.
