In 1913, the YWCA (Young Women's Christian Association) decided to create a ventilated centre for its women on Asilomar beach. The original buildings are made by Julia Morgan, the famous architect of Hearst Castle in San Simeon. Since then, the beach and buildings have been bought by the state of California, which has made it a park. It must be said that the views and beaches are fabulous. The rooms of the old YWCA are rented to the public, but we have to book well in advance.
